“Inadequate conditioning which as its consequence has the problematic usurpation of the military property, the infringement of the constitutional  jurisdictions and the Dayton peace agreement, are the crucial reasons of the very weak temporary support of the public in the Republik of Srpska toward NATO. Beside this, there is also a negative experience from the recent history related to the behavior of NATO toward the Republic of Srpska and Serbia, which also do not bring enthusiasm for the admittance to NATO.”

The president of the National Assembly Nedeljko Čubrilović noted this today during his speech to the participants of the 94th Sitting of the Rose Roth seminar of the Parliamentary Assembly of NATO for Mediterrian and Near East, which is beeing held in the Parliament of BiH.

Preident Čubrilović noted that already in an early stage it was proved that the process of integration has been instrumenalized by trying to accomplish it by unnecessary transfer of competences and weakening of the entity, which brought the erosion of the confidence.

“One of these problematic treatments also is the action of imposing the order for posting of immovable military property, which is ownd by the Republic of Srpska, to the Ministry of defence in the Council of Ministers of BiH. Althoug Nato does not have any particular reason for dealing with this question, the insistence on posting of immovable military property in the manner unacceptable for the Republic of Srpska is a form of conditioning the further progress, it increases distrust, creates resistance and does not contibute to the progress towards euro-atlantic integrations.

He also noted that the more sensible and practical access to the issues of cooperation should be a reason enough for the NATO also, to resolve these problematic issues by using other methods and possibilities in establishing partnership and constructive contribution towards establishing stability and security in the region.

“The issues of internal security in Bosnia and Herzegovina, as well as regional security, are of special importance for us. In that context, the Republic of Srpska has close relation with Serbia and expresses understanding for the attitudes of Serbia in the sense of military neutrality, as well as in relation with the cooperation with NATO and other members in establishing peace and preservation of security in the region”, said president Čubrilović.
