The President of the National Assembly of the Republic of Srpska rejected in written form delivered to all media, all theses that support the opinion that The Day of the Republic has been “unconstitutional”. He also emphasized that it is all about incorrect and malicious theses of politicians in Sarajevo, which make a more profound political gap and a bigger crises in political situation in BiH.

Čubrilović reminded that the National Assembly respected the Constitutional Court's decision which disputed the Day of the Republic and accepted the new Law on the Day of the Republic, published in “The Official Gazzete of the Republic of Srpska”, No. 113/16, which is now in force and which no one has disputed.

The President of the Parliament underlined that in Article 2 of the existing Law on the Day of the Republic clearly states: "Based on the confirmed will of the citizens of the Republic of Srpska, January 9, is determined as the Day of the Republic".

Čubrilović also said that incorrect assertions about the celebration of supposedly unconstitutional Day of the Republic have as their main object challenging the right of the Republic of Srpska to celebrate its own birthday, while during the past 12 years the Federation of BiH does not implement decisions on flag, anthem, emblem and constitutionality of the Serbian people and its language and writing.

He concluded that, Serbian people in BiH obtained their freedom and the right to the Republic of Srpska, which has been confirmed by the Dayton peace agreement and that they don’t have the intention to ask anybody which dates they will and will not celebrate.
