President Čubrilović met with the delegation of the World Jewish Organization

President of the National Assembly of the Republic of Srpska Nedeljko Čubrilović met with a delegation of the World Jewish organizations led by Robert Bloch on the issue of restitution of Jewish property in the Republic of Srpska and Bosnia and Herzegovina.

President Čubrilović supported the idea of the delegation of the World Jewish organization that is required to form a joint commission of this organization, the authorities of the Republic of Srpska, Jewish Community in the Republic of Srpska and Inter-Religious Council of Bosnia and Herzegovina that began systematically to address the issue of restitution.

Čubrilović said that this is a very complex problem which has arisen because of the nationalization of assets in the former Yugoslavia and pointed out that the National Assembly of the Republic of Srpska gives full support to reach quality and the applicable law on restitution.

Parliament pointed out that the Republic of Srpska there is a political will to solve the issue of restitution in an acceptable manner and to facilitate the return of property that was nationalized in the former country.

Representatives of the World Jewish organizations are reminded that Bosnia and Herzegovina signed the Terezin Declaration, which commits signatory countries to adequately address the issue of property restitution.

The meeting was, except Bloch, attended  by Ivan Čerešnješ and David Feynman, representatives of the World Jewish organizations, as well as Edward Gallagher, chief of the Banja Luka office of the US Embassy in Bosnia and Herzegovina.
