President Čubrilović met with the head of delegation of the Council of Europe in Bosnia and Herzegovina

President of the National Assembly of the Republic of Srpska Nedeljko Čubrilović met today with the newly appointed head of the delegation of the Council of Europe in Bosnia and Herzegovina, Ambassador Drahoslav Stefanek.

President Čubrilović informed Ambassador Stefanek that the National Assembly of the Republic of Srpska accepts the recommendations and commitments which include membership in the Council of Europe and that the laws adopted by the harmonized with basic democratic principles and the principles of respect for human rights and the rule of law.

Speaking about the electoral process, President Čubrilović said that the most functional and cost-effective was to consolidate the general and local elections in the Republic of Srpska and Bosnia and Herzegovina, and that the amendments to the BiH Election Law determines that compensatory mandate belongs solely to political party and not the candidate who is not obliged to the electorate, nor to the party that gave him the mandate.

Čubrilović pointed out that the Republic of Srpska by consensus agreed on a solution with regard to the European Court of Human Rights in the case "Sejdić and Finci" and it is expected that the Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina ordered an acceptable method of electing two members of the Presidency of Bosnia and Herzegovina, in order to fulfill the commitments made by Bosnia and Herzegovina has, as one of the 47 member states of the Council of Europe.

Čubrilović stated that the National Assembly of the Republic of Srpska is the most functional and the most efficient parliament in Bosnia and Herzegovina, in the adoption and implementation of laws and other acts that are of interest to citizens, the economy and the development of parliamentary democracy.

President of the National Assembly Nedeljko Čubrilović wished a welcome to the newly appointed head of delegation of the Council of Europe in BiH, Ambassador Drahoslav Stefanek and expressed readiness of the National Assembly to actively participate in projects implemented in cooperation with the Office of the Council of Europe in Bosnia and Herzegovina.
