President of the National Assembly of the Republic of Srpska
Mr. Igor Radojicic has talked in New York, in separate meetings, with the
Ambassador of the Russian Federation to the United Nations, His Excellency, Mr.
Vitaly Churkin, Ambassador of the People’s Republic of China to the United
Nations, His Excellency, Mr. Li Baodong, and the Ambassador in the Mission of
the United States of America to the United Nations Ms. Brooke Anderson.
At all meetings the topic was related to the situation in
Bosnia and Herzegovina, taking into account that the Security Council of the UN
considers reports on situation in Bosnia and Herzegovina every six months.
President Radojicic informed his interlocutors about the standpoints of the
Republic of Srpska as regards current issues in the country, and especially
international presence and the role of the High Representative. President
Radojicic asserted that there is a need to transform the OHR soon after the
October elections in B&H, so the new elected domestic bodies in full
capacity could take over initiative and obligations for the benefit of the
country. At the same time, the parties in talk analysed the fulfilment of the
given goals and tasks before the forthcoming meeting of the Peace
Implementation Council in Bosnia and Herzegovina takes place. A special
discussion was led on the position of B&H at the Security Council of the
UN, and a need to be acted in accordance to the points defined in accordance to
the Constitution, under the competence of collective decision-making at the
Presidency of Bosnia and Herzegovina.
In a talk with the Russian Ambassador Mr. Churkin, both
sides expressed their agreement that should any constitutional changes occur,
and before all the implementation of the decision of the European Court in
Strasbourg, in the case Sejdic-Finci, they have to represent a result of
domestic agreement and compromise. In a talk with the American Ambassador Ms.
Anderson, of special emphasis was the role of B&H in taking part in
decision-making at the UN Security Council when it comes to crisis spots accros
the globe, and a need of having a harmonised standpoint within B&H. In a
talk with the Chinese Ambassador Mr. Baodong, the parties emphasised
possibilities of intensifying mutual communication, both political, following a
number of visits by the officials of the Republic of Srpska to China, and
economic, where there exist possibilities and an interest of the Republic of
Srpska for a development of co-operation.
Mr. Radojicic, in the capacity of the Vice-President of the SNSD continues to
take part at the meeting of the Council of the Socialist International in New
York, dealing with topics such as economic crisis, global climate changes and
