Cubrilovic: National Assembly 31 years from establishment
The President of the National Assembly of the Republic of Srpska Nedeljko Cubrilovic, stated today, marking 31. anniversary of the constitution of the National Assembly, that parliament has been the foundation and protector of the Republic of Srpska and its institutions all these past years.
From 24 October 1991, the day of formation of the Assembly of Serbian people in BiH until today, National Assembly has stayed in the function of making law framework for political, institutional, and economy increasement of the Republic of Srpska. The Assembly of Serbian people in BiH enacted all basic documents, formed executive and judicial authority, police, army, financial and economic system, institutions of education, culture, health, and informing. MPs of the first convocation established the Republic of Srpska based on democratic, European principles of parliamentary democracy, principles Srpska has been based on all these years” remembered Cubrilovic.
He stressed that during the post-war years the role of the National Assembly has remained crucial, and that this year’s anniversary comes now when Central Electoral Commission has revealed the Election results of the 11th convocation of the National Assembly, who have one of the most challenging missions to accomplish: to save the dignity of the National Assembly.
“Because of this, there must not be insurmountable conflict upon vital questions of the Republic of Srpska and undermining its state capacity. I am convinced that MPs, led by this aim, would not slack under external influence, no matter how alluring they were, and that we will surpass all difficulties for the Republic of Srpska to progress and develop” said Cubrilovic.
He wished for all MPs elected in the new convocation of the National Assembly, which should be soon constituted, to continue the successful work of the parliamentary life in the Republic of Srpska, whose basic aim, as in the past 31 years, should stay the increasement of democratic society, strengthening the rule of law, the protection of the Constitutional Republic of Srpska and creation of better living conditions for all our citizens.
