Delegation of the Committee on European Integration with vice-president of the National Assembly of Serbia and Committee on EU integration

Delegation of the Committee on European Integration and regional cooperation of the National Assembly of the Republic of Srpska visited today the National Assembly of the Republic of Serbia and met with the Vice-President of the Assembly of Serbia Veroljub Arsic on the development of relationship between two assemblies and on the more intensive parliamentary cooperation in relation with the protocol on cooperation of the two Parliaments.

 At the meeting, it was stated that the Cooperation Protocol and principles established at the first session of the Co-operation Commission of the two Parliaments, held recently in Belgrade, are a solid basis for concretizing parliamentary co-operation, exchanging experiences and information.

Veroljub Arsic emphasized that the cooperation between the National Assembly of Serbia and the National Assembly of Republic of Srpska is at a very high level, and that it should be specified by the joint work of all relevant committees and working bodies of the two parliaments.

He said that apart from the parliamentary one, the Republic of Serbia will continue to support the Republic of Srpska in the areas of economy, infrastructure, science and culture.

Igor Crnadak, Chairman of the Committee on European Integration and Regional Cooperation of the Parliament of Srpska, emphasized that relations between Srpska and Serbia are at an extremely high level and that this is the result of consistent implementation of the Special and Parallel Relations Agreement.

"Cooperation with the Serbian Parliament is of the utmost importance to the National Assembly and the Republic of Srpska," Crnadak said.

Subsequently, a delegation of the Committee on European Integration and Regional Cooperation of the Republic of Srpska Parliament held a meeting with representatives of the Committee on European Integration of the Serbian Parliament, based on the Memorandum of Cooperation of the two parliamentary committees of 2014.

The aim of the meeting was to inform the Committee on European Integration and Regional Cooperation of the National Assembly of Republic of Srpska about the experiences and activities of the competent committee of the Serbian Parliament, especially when it comes to the European integrations of the country and harmonization of legislation with the acquis.

It was emphasized that the control role of the parliamentary committees when it comes to adopting European legislation is very important, as well as informing the public about the process of European integration of the country.

It was emphasized that the role of the EU Integration Committee is to strengthen regional co-operation and confidence, and that the members of the Serbian Parliament's Committee give full support to BiH on its path to the EU and its efforts to obtain candidate status as soon as possible.
