The President of the National Assembly attended the Ceremonial Academy on the occasion of the Day of Serb Unity, Freedom, and the National Flag
The President of the National Assembly of the Republika Srpska, Dr. Nenad Stevandic, attended today in the Serb National Theater in Novi Sad the ceremonial academy on the occasion of the Day of Serb Unity, Freedom and the National Flag, which was jointly celebrated by the Republic of Serbia and the Republika Srpska, in the presence of Serbian and Srpska officials, church dignitaries and many public figures from all spheres of life.
The ceremony was also attended by: His Holiness Serbian Patriarch Porfirije, President of Republic оf Srpska Milorad Dodik, Serbian member of the BiH Presidency Zeljka Cvijanovic, Prime Minister of Srpska Radovan Viskovic, Prime Minister of Serbia Milos Vucevic, ministers in the Government of Serbia and Srpska, parliamentarians, representatives of the Vojvodina government and representatives of the Northern Government of Macedonia.
The ceremony began with the singing of the anthems of the Republic of Srpska and the Republic of Serbia, performed by the orchestra and choir of the Ministry of Defense of Serbia "Stanislav Binicki".
During the ceremony, the singer of ethnic and religious music Danica Crnogorcevic sang the song "For the Life of Srpska", and Miroslav Janjanin's original song "My Serbia - grateful Srpska".
The formal academy at the Serbian National Theater in Novi Sad ended with the song "Veseli se srpski rode", performed by Danica Crnogorcevic, and the hall was dominated by the banner "Drina is a river, not a border".
Patriarch Porfirije said that unity is the daily need of the Svetosava race, saying that harmony, unity, and peace must be preserved.
The idea of this joint holiday between Serbia and Srpska was given by the leaders of Serbia, Aleksandar Vucic and Ana Brnabic, in agreement with the leadership of the Republic of Srpska, led by President Milorad Dodik.
At its session on September 10, 2020, the Government of Srpska adopted the Conclusion on the celebration of the Day of Serbian Unity, Freedom, and the National Flag, making this holiday official in Srpska.
A day later, on September 11, the Government of Serbia concluded that this holiday is officially celebrated on the territory of Serbia.
The goal of establishing the Day of Serbian Unity, Freedom, and the National Flag is to strengthen the unity between the Serbian people in Serbia and Srpska and to strengthen the cult of the national flag.
