President Stevandic attended the commemoration of the Patron Saint of the Ministry of Interior of the Republic of Srpska

The President of the National Assembly of the Republic of Srpska, Dr Nenad Stevandic, attended today's celebration in Banja Luka of St Archangel Michael the Patron Saint of the Ministry of Interior of the Republic of Srpska.

The president of the Republic of Srpska, Milorad Dodik, Prime Minister Radovan Viskovic, Minister of Interior Sinisa Karan, Director of Police Sinisa Kostresevic, and Vice President of the Serbian Government Aleksandar Vulin attended the celebration, as did the ministers in the Government of Srpska, representatives of the republic institutions, and the Ministry of Defence of Serbia.

The wreaths were laid at the Central Monument for 782 members of the Police killed in the Defence-Patriotic War.

The members of the families of the killed police officers and the representatives of the Third Infantry (Republic of Srpska) Regiment.

After the wreath laying, the liturgy was served, and in the Memorial Church of the Holy Archangel Michael at the MUP Training Center in Zaluzani, a Slava cake and wheat were sanctified.

On that occasion, President Stevandic said that the Republic of Srpska is dedicated to peace and that it maintains its most important institution, the Ministry of Interior.

"We are always for peace, but never for surrender. One hand is on the Constitution to preserve sovereignty and constitutional order, and the other is always ready to defend this," Stevandic told reporters.

 He stressed that it is very important that the Ministry of Internal Affairs is dedicated to preserving the constitutional order and territorial integrity of the Republic of Srpska.
