President Stevandic attended the opening of the 59th Kocic Choir

The President of the National Assembly of the Republic of Srpska Dr Nenad Stevandic attended today in Banja Luka the opening of the 59th Kocic Choir, the event dedicated to this Serbian writer and people’s tribune.

The event's opening in the Petar Kocic Park was attended by the Minister of Education and Culture Zeljka Stojcic, the envoy of the President of the Republic of Srpska Marko Romic, and many other invitees.

The Minister of Education and Culture Zeljka Stojcic said that Petar Kocic believed in the freedom of spirit and freedom of people that this was the essence of his fight and that the works of this writer have been and remain today the cry for justice and dignity for his people.

“Kocic’s sharp pen was the weapon in the fight against injustice and tyranny. His words remind us that freedom is not a privilege”, stressed Stojcic.

She said that Kocic’s Choir shows the permanent value of the figure and deed one of the most prominent persons in Serbian literature culture and history.

In the National Theatre, we can watch Milana Majar’s documentary “Fog in the Hands”, in the production of the Radio Television of the Republic of Srpska, and dedicated to the writer Djuro Damjanovic.

Tomorrow, a solemn academy will be held, and this year’s laureate of “Kocic Award”, Matija Beckovic.

The final battle of bulls for the "Jablan" award will be organized in Stricici on Sunday at 1 pm.
