President of the National Assembly of the Republic of Srpska, Dr. Nenad Stevandic, spoke today at the National Assembly of the Republic of Srpska in Banja Luka with Bishop Sergije of Bihac-Petrovac about the relations between the Serbian Orthodox Church and the institutions of the Republic of Srpska.

“We agreed that there is good cooperation between the National Assembly and the Serbian Orthodox Church, especially with dioceses that entirely located on the territory of the Republic of Srpska,” said Stevandic.

The meeting also discussed the social situation in the Republic of Srpska. Stevandic emphasized that there is a stable social climate in the Republic of Srpska and good relations with all religious communities.

The interlocutors also addressed current events in Serbia, expressing hope that all challenges will be resolved peacefully and through an agreement.

"We believe that any external interference or any commitment that leads to divisions in Serbia does not contribute to the national consensus and spiritual unity of the Serbian people," said the President of the National Assembly.

At the meeting, it was agreed that President Stevandic would visit the monasteries and churches of Bihac-Petrovac diocese in the coming period.
