Round Table of the Committee for European Integrations and Regional Cooperation against hate speech

The Committee for European Integrations and Regional Cooperation today in Prijedor, in cooperation with the OSCE Mission, organized a round table titled "Dialogue Committee for European Integration and Regional Cooperation and young people on the path towards the European Union".

The Round Table was organized on the occasion of marking May 21 - World Day of Cultural Diversity for Dialogue and Development.

The roundtable was attended by chairman of the Committee Branislav Borenović, members of the Committee Zorica Kuzmanović - Vasilić, Neno Dobrijević, Vanja Bajić, representatives of several local communities in Prijedor, representatives of the Coalition for the fight against hatred from Prijedor and the surrounding area and members of the Forum for the safety of citizens of Prijedor.

At the meeting it was concluded that the need to strengthen the fight against hate speech and discrimination and that this process requires a firmer and closer cooperation with non-governmental sector to politicians and government officials.

Committee Chairman Branislav Borenović said that the hate speech has to be reduced.

"During this process it is essential the opinion of civil society. We have to be particularly focused on anti-hate speech activities in border areas," said Borenović

Borenović invited representatives of non-governmental sector to engage more actively in the fight against hate speech and discrimination and in the process to more closely cooperate with the authorities at all levels.
