Students and professors of the Gymnasium in Banja Luka visited the National Assembly

The National Assembly of the Republic of Srpska has been visited today by pupils and professors of the Gymnasium in Banja Luka. They were hosted by the vice president of the National Assembly Anja Ljubojevic and Secretary-General Boran Bosancic.

Ljubojevic and Bosancic introduced the guests to the jurisdiction and procedures of adopting the acts in the National Assembly of the Republic of Srpska.

Ljubojevic highlighted that it is very important for young people to get a better notion of the functioning of the highest legislative institution in the Republic of Srpska.

“I am glad that you are our guests today and that you have the opportunity to get introduced to the work of the highest legislative body in the Republic of Srpska. I am convinced this would be of great benefit and that you would be socially active, and that you will stay in this country and build a better and more prosperous Republic of Srpska” stated Ljubojevic.

Bosancic introduced the students to the organisation, structure, jurisdiction, and historical background of the Parliament, remembering that the National Assembly has started its work on October 24, 1991, under the name The Assembly of the Serbian people in BiH.

“National Assembly enacts the most important decisions and laws”, stressed Bosancic who introduced the student to the work of the Assembly’s Service, the activities of the Assembly working bodies, and the most important clausula of the Rules of Procedure of the National Assembly.  

The professor of democracy and human rights Nikolina Erceg Rondovic said that this subject enables students to get introduced to the structure of the authority and its functioning, and that this visit to the National Assembly is a part of the practice part of the Project “I citizen”.

The students of the fourth grade of the Gymnasium Una Pilipovic said that this visit will enable the students to understand how they can influence authority.

As students, Milica Vasilic and Anja Babic said the Project “I citizen” has helped a lot to young people in order to understand how to cooperate with institutions and to be more active.

A simulation of voting on the parliament's conference system was arranged for the students, and they had the opportunity to visit the Exhibition Hall, the Small Hall, and the Parliamentary Library.
