Vice-President Ljubojevic talked with the Director of the Centre for European Security Studies from the Kingdom of the Netherlands

The Vice-President of the National Assembly of the Republic of Srpska Anja Ljubojevic met today in the Assembly premises with the director of the European Centre for Security Studies from the Kingdom of the Netherlands Merijn Hortog. The interlocutors talked about the system of parliamentary oversight over the sector on security, enforcing democratic capacities, and implementation of the project of the Centre named: “Bosnia and Herzegovina Building Inclusive Oversight of Security (BIHOS)”.

Vice-President Ljubojevic said at the meeting that the Republic of Srpska is politically, institutionally, and security stable. She expressed her gratitude to the representatives of the Centre for European Security Studies on the implementation of the BIHOS Project, which has the aim of enforcing the system of parliamentary oversight of the security sector with the more intensive cooperation of this Centre with the National Assembly of the Republic of Srpska and the Committee on Security.

“The National Assembly of the Republic of Srpska as the highest legislative and democratic institution is functioning without disturbance and it performs constitutional and legislative authority in all segments of our society. The Parliament is open to cooperation with all international, scientific, and expert organizations with the aim of improvement of its functioning. We look forward to mutual cooperation, because it is very important for the Committee on Security of the National Assembly of the Republic of Srpska to be actively deployed in the implementation of this project”, emphasized Ljubojevic.

The Director of the Center for European Security Studies Merijn Hartog introduced the work and the activities of the Centre, stressing that the implementation of the BIHOS project, with the aim of enforcing democratic and inclusive oversight over the security sector in BiH will last for three and a half years with the financial support of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Kingdom of the Netherlands.

The meeting was attended by Dusko Vejinovic and Darko Matijasevic, the representatives of the European Defendology Center in Banja Luka, the partner of the project implementation.
