The President of the National Assembly of the Republic of Srpska Dr Nenad Stevandić signed today in Salzburg with the President of the Institute of the Regions of Europe Franz Schausberger the General Agreement on Cooperation between the National Assembly of the Republic of Srpska and the Institute of the Regions of Europe, which defined mutual cooperation in the fields of economy, politics, science, and culture.

President Stevandić, after signing the Agreement, announced the holding of the Parliamentary Forum in Banja Luka from April 26 to 28, organized by the National Assembly of the Republic of Srpska.

"At the Forum, we expect the presence of numerous officials and parliamentarians from the European Union, the countries of the region, and Bosnia and Herzegovina," said Stevandić.

The President of the National Assembly said that it is necessary to speed up the process of European integration and added that European institutions should get better acquainted with the policy led by the Republic of Srpska, which is based on maintaining peace and mutual understanding.

"It is necessary to do everything to establish the constitutional position of the Republic of Srpska and to protect its values, which are in complete agreement with the values of the European Union," he said and thanked Schausberger for his understanding and support.

Schausberger expressed satisfaction with the signed Agreement, stressing that the ultimate goal of this cooperation is the fastest possible membership of Bosnia and Herzegovina in the European Union.

"We are especially glad that we can work together to ensure that the Republic of Srpska and Bosnia and Herzegovina join the European Union, because it is clear that we share common values," said Schausberger.
