Students of the Faculty of Political Sciences of the University in Banja Luka visited the National Assembly of the Republic of Srpska

The President of the National Assembly of the Republic of Srpska, Dr Nenad Stevandic, hosted today, in the Assembly premises, students of the Faculty of Political Sciences, University in Banja Luka, who he informed on the organization, jurisdiction, and the functioning of the highest legislative institution in the Republic of Srpska.

The visit was organized as part of the Comparative Political Systems subject, with the aim of practical familiarization with the work and organization of the National Assembly and the law-making procedure.

The President talked about the work of the National Assembly, the functioning of the Assembly working bodies and clubs and parliamentary groups, the procedure of session scheduling and holding, and the process of passing laws, which, as he stressed, regulate political, institutional, economic, and social life of the Republic of Srpska.

“National Assembly of the Republic of Srpska passes laws and other acts which regulate fiscal, security, health, educational and social politics of the Republic of Srpska. It is very important for us to get familiar with the work of the highest legislative institution of our Republic. Young and students are always welcome guests in the parliament,” stated President Stevandic to the students.

The meeting discussed the students' proposal to enable them to practice in the National Assembly of the Republic of Srpska in cooperation with parliamentarians, as well as attend the plenary session of the parliament.

The professor of the Faculty of Political Sciences of the University in Banja Luka, Dr Manja Đurić Džakić thanked the assembly staff on the warm welcome, stressing that student's visits to the highest institutions are exceptionally important and useful because students have a unique opportunity to check and confirm their theoretical knowledge in practice.

''We had the great honor and pleasure to talk with the President of the National Assembly and to see, on the spot, how this institution is functioning,“said Đurić Džakić.

Students of the second year of this faculty, Dragana Delić and Sanja Švraka, pointed out that students are very interested in the programs of volunteering and internship in the National Assembly, and attendance at parliamentary sessions, and that the FPC Student Club will submit a written proposal for future cooperation to the parliament in the coming period.
