Čubrilović: Solve the status of women - war victims

President of the National Assembly of the Republic of Srpska Nedeljko Čubrilović has announced that it will soon organize a meeting with representatives of the Ministry of Labour and Veterans and the Government of Srpska to jointly come up with appropriate solutions for regulating the rights of women victims of war.

President Čubrilović at today's meeting with a delegation of the Association of Women war victims said that the National Assembly, together with other institutions of Srpska, will make additional efforts to legally regulate the position of this category, stressing the necessity of providing of all possible assistance to those who suffered in the previous war.

Delegation of the Association, headed by Mrs. Božica Živković Rajilić requested that the authorities of the Republic of Srpska adopt law, or any other legal solution that would adequately regulate the rights of women war victims who have undergone various types of torture in prisons and detention camps in today's Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina.

Representatives of the Association expressed their dissatisfaction with the current position of women war victims and pointed to the fact that the current laws did not adequately regulate the rights of these women, as well as the fact that they suffered only because they were Serbs and that they were in the territory controlled by the Bosniak and Croatian armed forces.

They have requested that the association receives the status of the organization of public interest in the Republic of Srpska, in order to act in achieving rights, proving the truth and insisting that the perpetrators of war crimes against the Serbian civilian population be prosecuted.
