The delegation of the National Assembly of the Republic of Srpska, led by its President, Dr. Nenad Stevandic, participated today alongside a delegation from Serbia in the commemoration of the Day of Serbian Unity, Freedom, and the National Flag, and the 107th anniversary of the breakthrough of the Thessaloniki Front, which was held at Kajmakcalan.
Wreaths were laid and tribute was paid to the Serbian heroes who died in the breakthrough of the Thessaloniki Front.
President Stevandic stated that the sacrifice of the Serbian soldiers left a lasting mark and that their spirit still serves as a guiding light today.
"Our children are born with that soul; with that soul we educate our descendants and contemporaries. With that soul we show the path that every Serb should take—fearlessly and bravely, like heroes who enemy did not stop will or artillery," Stevandic said.
He recalled the words of King Alexander, who described the soldiers from Kajmakcalan as "great heroes" who opened the gates of freedom with their lives. As he noted, the heroes of the Republic of Srpska have woven the same symbol of freedom, which is why, he emphasized, there is no room for retreat.
"This is a symbol that has taught us in Srpska and will teach future generations in Serbia, Kosovo, Montenegro, everywhere where Serbs fight, where they do not surrender and consider themselves equal to other nations, and that no one has the right to threaten them," Stevandic pointed out.
In his address, he stated that the Serbian people have survived all hardships and that this has only strengthened them.
"We will be strong, we will be the strongest, and we will not allow ourselves to forget those who show us how to win—with honor, bravery, freedom, and kindness," Stevandic stressed.
In addition to President Stevandic, the National Assembly delegation included members of parliament Aleksandar Trninic, Srdjan Mazalica, and Milan Savanovic.
The Serbian delegation consisted of Minister of Defense Bratislav Gasic, Minister for Family and Demography Milica Djurdjevic Stamenkovski, and member of parliament Dusan Maric
