The Speaker of the National Assembly of the Republic Srpska, Dr. Nenad Stevandic, attended today, as a member of a delegation led by the President of the Republic Srpska, Milorad Dodik, the Parade on the Occasion of the 80th Anniversary of the Victory over Fascism in World War II, held on Red Square in Moscow.
The Moscow parade was attended by 29 world leaders, including the President of the Republic of Srpska, Milorad Dodik, the President of the Republic of Serbia, Aleksandar Vucic, and the Serbian member and Chairperson of the Presidency of Bosnia and Herzegovina, Zeljka Cvijanovic.
More than 11,500 Russian Ministry of Defence soldiers and other security structures participated in the parade.
Russia has won freedom and peace for all of humanity at the cost of millions of lives, Russian President Vladimir Putin said.
"Victory Day is celebrated in Russia as the most important holiday. Russia remembers the lessons of World War II and will never agree to distort its events," Putin said during the Victory Parade in Moscow.
He said that Russia will always remember that the opening of a second front brought victory closer, and that it will always rely on unity in military and peacekeeping affairs.
Putin stressed that Russia greatly appreciates the contribution of the friendly people of China to the victory in World War II.
Before concluding his speech, he declared a minute of silence in memory of those who died in the Great Patriotic War.
"Glory to the victorious people! Happy holiday! Happy Great Victory Day! Hurray!" Putin concluded his speech at the parade.
After the military parade, Russian President Vladimir Putin and guests from many countries around the world laid flowers at the Eternal Flame and the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier in the Alexander Park near the Kremlin.
Victory Day is celebrated on May 9 in memory of that date in 1945, when the unconditional surrender of Nazi Germany came into effect, thus ending World War II in Europe, the most massive and, in terms of the number of human victims, the most terrible conflict in the history of mankind, in which about 60 million people died.
