The President of the National Assembly of the Republic of Srpska, Dr. Nenad Stevandic, stated that the government in Srpska acted responsibly and maintained peace, despite pressures and destabilization attempts that, according to him, originated from the Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina and part of the international community.
"I am proud that we avoided a scenario that predicted violence. Republic of Srpska proved to be responsible and affirmative, and its leaders are worthy of the functions they perform," said Stevandic at a press conference in Banja Luka.
He pointed out that the political structures of the Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina, which he referred to as the "troika", with the support of certain international factors, attempted to provoke conflicts and accused the leadership of the Republic of Srpska of this.
"The plan was to arrest our leaders and put chains on them, to bring a suitable opposition to power. It was a plan that was thwarted," said Stevandic.
He stated that the scenario of destabilization was based on, as he said, renegade judicial institutions, which acted in conjunction with opposition actors from the Republic of Srpska.
He also recalled the statements of Federal Minister of the Interior Ramo Isak about the readiness of special units to enter Srpska, while, as he stated, Christian Schmidt and numerous embassies remained silent on this.
"It was clear that they wanted to provoke conflicts and that I, the President of the Republic Milorad Dodik and the Prime Minister Radovan Viskovic would be accused of them," emphasized Stevandic.
According to him, after the departure of American ambassador Michael Murphy, the international pressure in that direction weakened.
"This was an attack by the 'troika' with instruments in the judiciary. Now they are being investigated for financing Elmedin Konakovic's party through the drug cartel," said Stevandic.
He added that the Republic of Srpska is the only one that has remained politically stable and is continually strengthening its international position.
Commenting on the statement of the European Commissioner for Enlargement, Marta Kos, who requested the withdrawal of the law from the National Assembly of the Republic of Srpska, Stevandic said that Srpska has a sovereign government that makes its own decisions.
"We are not working on the orders of Marta Kos or any branches that are trying to achieve other people's goals here. They are not even the goals of Bosniaks, they are just instrumentalizing them," said Stevandic.
He emphasized that no one in the government of the Republic of Srpska is a citizen of Kosovo and that the institutions act exclusively in accordance with the expectations of the people.
He added that the eventual withdrawal of the law could only be considered if it would bring concrete benefits for the Republic of Srpska and its institutions.
