The President of the National Assembly of the Republic of Srpska Dr Nenad Stevandic attended today at Ozren monastery, the municipality of Petrovo, the Central ceremony of marking Vidovdan-the Patron Saint of the Republic of Srpska’s Army, and 3. Infantry/Republic of Srpska/Regiment.
The central ceremony marking Vidovdan has begun with a liturgy held by His Holiness, bishop Fotije.
The ceremony has also been attended by Serbian member of BiH Presidency Zeljka Cvijanovic, prime Minister Radovan Viskovic, retired bishop Konstantin, and the commander of the Third Infantry Regiment of BiH armed forces Sreten Milosevic.
President Stevandic highlighted on that occasion that fighters who are still alive and who have been making the Republic of Srpska, stand behind them and will not allow one step backward.
“Their mission is our mission. What we are doing today is the same as they have been doing. To bravely walk forward and protect the Republic of Srpska”, said Stevandic to the media. He stressed that everyone should protect what warriors of the Republic of Srpska Army have defended”.
"Glory to the Army of the Republic of Srpska, glory to the fighters and everyone who laid down their lives for freedom!", emphasized Stevandić.
The Assembly of Serbian People in BiH, on its sitting in Banja Luka, on 12 May 1992 decided to form the Republic of Srpska Army. It existed from 12 May 1992 until 1 January 2006, after which it entered the composition of the BiH Armed Forces.
