The President of the National Assembly of the Republic of Srpska, Dr. Nenad Stevandić, met today in Banja Luka with the Chargé d'Affaires of the Embassy of the United States of America in Bosnia and Herzegovina, John Ginkel, to discuss the current political situation in the Republic of Srpska and BiH.
President Stevandić Chargé d'Affaires Ginkel on the positions and current state of affairs in the Republic of Srpska, as well as views regarding the overall situation in BiH. He emphasized that the Republic of Srpska remains committed to preserving peace and stability in BiH. There is a readiness for all forms of communication and compromise, provided they do not jeopardize Dayton rights, constitutional principles, or rights regulated by international acts. He informed the Chargé d'Affaires of the Republic of Srpska’s intention to remain military neutral and to exercise its right to independent decision-making in accordance with its constitutional competencies.
President Stevandić further stressed that the Republic of Srpska has no intention of governing or dictating matters to other nations in Bosnia and Herzegovina, nor does it call for international interventionism in its own favor. However, he noted that it simultaneously does not accept interventionism based on the actions of the High Representative and the OHR, which he stated deepens the political crisis by taking sides within BiH.
