President Čubrilović: The significant role of the National Assembly in formation, strengthening and development of Srpska
The President of the National Assembly of the Republic of Srpska Nedeljko Čubrilović said for newspaper agency Srna,, that the Assembly played a significant role during the formation, strengthening and development of Srpska and also in emancipation of the Serbian and other people living here.
Čubrilović stressed that the National Assembly has been a democratic institution all this time and has been functioning in the interests of the citizens of the Republic of Srpska.
“The National Assembly from its beginning represents the institutional pillar representing the constitutional order of the Republic of Srpska and has continuous constitutional and legislative competence” highlighted Čubrilović regarding the 28th anniversary of the formation of the Assembly of Serbian people in BiH, the preceding institution of the present National Assembly.
He said that, looking from this perspective, the first formation of the National Assembly in the time when BiH was in front of the civil war was a foresighted move.
“If this had not happened, all we have all these 28 years would not exist on the same basis”, stressed Čubrilović.
According to him, by enacting the Constitution, on February 28th 1992, the highest constitutional and legislative act was enacted, which was the basis for constitutional and legal order, providing the framework and guaranties for legal security. It was also the basis for legitimacy and legality of the Republic of Srpska.
28 years passed since the formation of the Assembly of Serbian people in BiH, preceding the outvoting of the Serbian deputies in the Assembly of the then SR BiH.
The present Assembly was constituted on the basis of the Assembly of the Serbian people of BiH.
