Presidents Stevandic and Orlic signed the Memorandum on Establishing the Parliamentary Forum
The Presidents of the National Assembly of the Republic of Srpska Dr Nenad Stevandic and the President of the National Assembly of Serbia Dr Vladimir Orilic signed today in Belgrade the Memorandum on establishing the Parliamentary Forum Serbia-Republic of Srpska.
The Parliamentary Forum should have sittings twice a year and its decisions should be verified by the Assemblies of Serbia and Srpska.
Before signing the documents, the two presidents met in the House of Parliament of the National Assembly of the Republic of Serbia.
Stevandic and Orlic agreed on establishing the Parliamentary Forum in August this year.
President Orlic said that the signing of the Memorandum is very important and that it follows up the activities of the two presidents.
“For the first time, two National Assemblies will establish a common working body where MPs will have the main role. Every National Assembly will establish its delegation which will consider important political questions, and coordinate attitudes and declarations,” said Orlic.
“He added that the meeting they had was about the political situation in Bosnia and Herzegovina, the Republic of Srpska, and the region.
At the meeting, we emphasized the importance of consistent compliance with the Dayton Agreement. The Republic of Serbia is ready to support everything that comes as a result of the agreement between the two entities and three nations in Bosnia and Herzegovina, but we cannot accept impositions that come from outside," said Orlić and added that the presidents of both parliaments jointly sent their full support to the president of the Republic. of Serbia Aleksandar Vučić, who leads the fight for the protection of state interests and national positions at the United Nations General Assembly.
President Stevandic said that he is proud of the signing of this act which forms the joint working body that will bring conclusions and recommendations.
“Since the creation of the Republic of Srpska, this is both essentially and formally the largest and most serious document that we are signing, and which is not directed against anyone. The Memorandum talks exclusively about cooperation and development and about nurturing common values of culture and tradition, as well as support for the protection of the territorial integrity of the Republic of Serbia, as well as the Dayton integrity and constitutional competencies of the Republic of Srpska," said Stevandić.
The Collegium of the National Assembly accepted on 12 September the notification of President Stevandic on establishing the Parliamentary Forum Serbia-Republic of Srpska.
