President of the National Assembly of the Republic of Srpska Nedeljko Čubrilović opened today at the National Assembly an exhibition chess tournament called "Festival of Friendship - checkmate the prejudices ".
Opening the tournament, the President Čubrilović emphasized that tournaments like this one represent a major incentive for all young chess players, especially when we know that chess is, as he said, much more than just a game.
- These tournaments cost just a little of good will and nothing more than that - said Čubrilović, paying a tribute to the Banja Luka School of Chess "Skakač", which, with the financial support of the German Embassy, organized this tournament in the National Assembly.
The tournament has exhibition character and as it was said at the opening ceremony, aims to promote multiculturalism and better understanding between different social groups.
The competition has attracted hundreds of competitors of all ages from across BiH and RS, and the tournament was attended by the famous chess grandmaster Borki Predojević, who, in the exhibition section, played chess game with President Čubrilović.
